Page TitleDA - Destination Address
DescriptionDestination Address (DA) - Used to route packets across a network. An incoming (TCP/IP) packet has a Source Address (SA) and a DA. A DA is a 48-bit address that is also called the Media Access Control (MAC) address, physical address, or hardware/interface address. The Ethernet interface with the same address as the DA in the frame will read in the entire frame and deliver it to the networking software running on that computer. All other network interfaces will stop reading the frame when they discover that the DA does not match their own address.
