| Description | Super Frame (SF) - In an older (T-carrier) framing standard for (T1) circuits SF represents a synchronization frame that delineates 12 (DS1) frames. SF consists of twelve frames of 192 bits each, with the 193rd bit providing error checking and other functions. It is superseded by (ESF) but still widely used. SF is also called (D4) or (D3/D4) framing. |
